Sliding shower doors have a vertical gap between the moving door panel and the adjacent fixed glass or wall. This side seal attaches to the edge of the sliding panel and compresses against the neighbouring surface when the door is closed, creating a flexible water barrier.
Why Sliding Doors Need a Specific Seal
The side seals used on hinged frameless doors will not work on sliding doors. Sliding panels move laterally along a track, so the seal must allow the door to glide past without catching or dragging. This seal profile is shaped to compress and release smoothly as the door slides open and closed.
Replacement and Maintenance
Side seals are a wear item. Over time, the rubber or vinyl compound loses its flexibility and the seal becomes less effective at blocking water. If you notice water leaking from the side of your sliding shower door, a worn seal is the most likely cause. Replacing it is straightforward and far less expensive than addressing the water damage that a leaking seal can cause over months of neglect.
Sizing
Supplied in 2 metre lengths. Trim to match the height of your shower door on site. For standard 1950mm high doors, a single length provides enough material with a small offcut.
