Choosing a toilet is mostly a question of how much you want to hide and how much disruption you are prepared to accept to hide it.

Close coupled is the conventional arrangement, with the cistern sitting directly on the pan. It is the simplest to install, the easiest to service, and the cheapest to replace when the time comes. Back to wall pans conceal the pipework behind a false wall or a cabinet while keeping the cistern accessible, which gives a much tidier appearance without the complexity of an in-wall system. Wall hung is the cleanest look of all, with the pan cantilevered off the wall and the floor running unbroken underneath it, which genuinely does make cleaning easier and a small bathroom feel larger.

The catch with wall hung is that it requires an in-wall frame carrying the load, and that frame has to be set out and fixed into framing before the wall is lined. It is a straightforward decision in a new build or a full strip-out, and an expensive one to retrofit. If your walls are staying, back to wall is the sensible compromise.

All our suites are dual flush and meet New Zealand water efficiency requirements. Soft close seats are included as standard on most models.

One compatibility warning: pans, cisterns, frames and seats are not universally interchangeable between manufacturers. If you are replacing one part rather than a whole suite, confirm compatibility before ordering. Seat fixing centres and pan dimensions in particular vary more than you would expect, and a D-shape pan will not take a standard seat.
