Shower Trays

A shower tray is a preformed base that gives you a guaranteed fall to the waste. That is the whole argument for using one. The fall is the detail most often got wrong in a shower floor built on site, and getting it wrong means standing water, which means mould, staining and eventually a call to someone like us.

Trays suit installations where you want a defined shower area with an upstand at the edge, as opposed to a level-entry floor that continues through from the bathroom. They install faster than a tiled base, they need no waterproofing membrane over the base itself, and they are ready to use as soon as the enclosure goes on.

Sizes cover standard corner, square and rectangular configurations. Waste positions are the thing to confirm before ordering, because centre and corner wastes are not interchangeable and relocating a waste means opening the floor, which turns a one day job into a much larger one. Check what you have before you choose a tray.

If you want the floor finish to run continuously into the shower, look at a tileable base instead. You get the guaranteed fall with tile on top, which is the best of both approaches at slightly higher cost and installation time.

All trays are supplied to New Zealand standards with a five year warranty. Measure the alcove at floor level rather than at the top of the wall, since walls in older houses lean and the tray has to fit the narrowest point.
