A water bar sits across the threshold of a shower and holds water inside the enclosure. It is the component that makes a level-entry or walk-in shower practical, because without it any water that reaches the opening simply runs out onto the bathroom floor.

The profile matters for how the shower feels to use. A quarter round bar has one radiused face and a tapered outer edge, so the approach from the bathroom side is a gentle ramp rather than a step. That is easier to walk over, easier to clean around, and better for anyone with limited mobility. A square profile holds slightly more water but presents a defined edge at the threshold.

Height is the trade-off. A taller bar contains more water but is more of an obstacle underfoot. For most residential showers with a properly built fall to the waste, a low profile bar at around 8mm is sufficient, because the bar is only there to catch what the fall does not.

Supplied in 700mm lengths, which suits standard door and opening widths, and trimmed to fit on site. Finishes include matt black and brushed nickel to match your other frameless hardware.

Before ordering, check that your floor actually falls towards the waste. A water bar will contain a small amount of overflow but it will not compensate for a floor that slopes the wrong way. If water is pooling at the opening, the fall is the problem and the bar will not fix it.
