Frameless Shower Channels

U-channel is what holds a fixed frameless panel in position without visible brackets. The glass sits inside the channel, which is fixed to the wall or floor and then packed and sealed, giving a clean line where the panel meets the surface.

It is the more forgiving fixing method of the two available. Panel clips look more minimal but concentrate all the load into two or three points, which means every fixing has to land in solid framing. Channel spreads the load along the full length of the panel and is considerably more tolerant of a wall that is not perfectly plumb, since the packing inside the channel takes up the discrepancy.

Channel is supplied in 2000mm lengths and cut to suit on site. Order by glass thickness first, because a 10mm panel will rattle in an 8mm channel and will not go into a channel sized tighter. Then match the finish to your hinges and handles.

If you are retrofitting channel to an existing panel, check the fixing surface before you commit. Channel needs to be mechanically fixed, and screwing into tile alone is not adequate for a panel that will be leaned on. Find the framing behind, or use an appropriate anchor rated for the load.

Available in chrome, matt black, brushed nickel and brushed gunmetal. Gunmetal in particular has become popular where the rest of the bathroom is in darker tones and matt black would read as too flat.
