Framed Showers

A framed shower enclosure uses an aluminium frame around the perimeter of the glass to carry the structural load. That single difference is why framed showers remain the most practical choice for a large share of New Zealand bathrooms, particularly in older homes where walls are rarely as square as the plans suggested.

Because the frame does the work, the glass can be thinner, which brings the cost down considerably compared with frameless. The frame also has a degree of tolerance built into it, so a wall that is out by a few millimetres over its height can usually be accommodated during installation rather than requiring the opening to be made good first. In a villa or a bungalow, that can be the difference between a straightforward fit and a much bigger job.

Our framed range covers corner, alcove and walk-in configurations with sliding or pivot doors. Sliding suits tight bathrooms where a swinging door would foul the vanity or the toilet. Pivot gives a wider opening and a cleaner look where you have the floor space in front of it. All glass is toughened safety glass made to New Zealand standards, and every enclosure carries a five year warranty.

If you already have a framed shower and something has failed, you almost certainly do not need a new enclosure. Rollers, seals and handles are all replaceable parts and you will find them in our framed shower parts and hardware section. A door that sticks, jumps its track or leaks at the base is usually one inexpensive component away from working properly again.
