Most framed shower problems are wear problems, not failures. The glass and the frame will outlast the moving parts by decades, so when a shower starts leaking, sticking or rattling, the fix is usually a component costing a fraction of a replacement enclosure.

Three things account for the majority of faults. Rollers wear flat or seize, which makes a sliding door drag, jump the track or need lifting to close. Seals harden and split, which is why water that used to stay in the shower is suddenly running onto the floor. Handles work loose or snap at the fixing point. All three are replaceable in minutes with basic tools, and none of them require touching the glass or dismantling the frame.

The complication with framed showers in New Zealand is that dozens of systems have been installed over the years and the parts are not standardised. A roller from one manufacturer will not fit another, even where they look nearly identical. So before ordering, take the worn part out and measure it: wheel diameter and mounting style for rollers, glass thickness and length for seals, and fixing hole centres for handles.
