Framed Shower Doors

Replacing a shower door is one of the most cost effective upgrades you can make to a bathroom. If the enclosure is sound and the tiling is fine, there is rarely any reason to rip the whole thing out because the door has failed.

Before ordering, measure the glass panel itself rather than the opening. The panel dimensions are what determine fit, and the opening will always be larger by the width of the frame and the running clearances. Note the glass thickness as well, which on framed systems is usually 5mm or 6mm. Then check the mechanism: a sliding door runs on rollers along a top track, while a pivot door swings on hinges fixed to the frame or the wall. These are not interchangeable, and ordering the wrong type is the most common mistake we see.

Custom sizing is worth considering in older houses and in any bathroom where a previous renovation has left an unusual dimension. All glass is toughened to New Zealand safety standards and comes with a five year warranty.

If you are unsure what you have, take photos of the door in the closed position, the top track, and the bottom rail, and send them through. We deal with these every day and can usually identify a system from a photo faster than you can measure it.

Worth checking before you order a whole door: if the problem is water escaping or a door that drags, the fault is often the seals or the rollers rather than the panel. Both are cheap parts and both are listed under framed shower parts and hardware.
